Training Opportunities
The Centre currently offers placements for counsellors in training at diploma level or above who are required to gain clinical experience.
We accept students who have completed at least the first term of courses in counselling/psychotherapy which are accredited by either BACP or UKCP and who are also established in ongoing weekly personal therapy.
The counselling offered at the centre is guided by the psychodynamic approach and we will usually recruit trainees on psychodynamic courses or integrative courses with a psychodynamic component.
The Centre offers once weekly, individual, open-ended counselling to our clients.
We provide weekly group supervision and our counsellors are further supported by the Centre Manager.
A placement fee of £15 per week is charged to contribute to supervision and organisational costs.
The Mid-Sussex Counselling Centre was originally established in 1982 to train a group of counsellors and we take great pride in continuing this purpose and providing excellent clinical experience for trainee counsellors and psychotherapists.
We accept applications for student placement throughout the year and interview when we have vacancies.
Please email the Counsellor Coordinator for an application form and further information at [email protected], or contact us:

During your time with the Centre there will be opportunities to take advantage of free CPD workshops.
Once qualified, our counsellors acquire volunteer status and the placement fee is no longer charged. Many of our newly qualified counsellors stay with us to continue to develop their work and to accumulate sufficient hours for accreditation.
A placement with the Centre offers the opportunity to build a solid foundation for a career in counselling.
